7 Often-Overlooked Details
1. For appointments outside the salon
Schedule a room with enough space for your bridal party and plenty of outlets and tables for your hairdressers to set up. This detail assures your hairstylist and team have everything they need for creating fabulous hairstyles for you and your “I do” crew.
2.Pre-appointment prep
Wash your hair and, if feasible, air dry it. Hairstylists prefer to work with the texture of second-day hair because it holds styles better and is less likely to be too oily or too dry. Skipping the flat iron and other heat tools will give your stylist a fresh slate. Remember that previous styling and parts are impossible to remove from your hair to create a new style.
3.What to bring to your first appointment
All bridal hair accessories—veil, jeweled hair comb, hat, headpiece, and headband, even if you won’t be wearing them until the reception. Inspiration photos, no more than three different styles, a picture of your wedding dress, and, if possible, photos of the side and back of your favorite hairstyle.
4.What to share at your first appointment
Do you have any individual needs for your hair, such as a sensitive scalp or allergies to certain hair products? Are you using eco-friendly hair care products to help maintain a healthy hairstyle? These are important details to discuss with your hairstylist.
5. Short to medium hairstyles
Short to medium length hairstyles are just as fabulous as a long hairstyle, so you don’t need to grow your hair to a new length, buy extensions or think your dress requires a long hairstyle. These hairstyles can be just as elegant and sophisticated, and they often require less maintenance, allowing you to enjoy your special day without worrying about your hair.
6. Removing Your Veil
Are you removing your veil after the ceremony? Ask a friend to come to your final hair trial appointment to learn how to remove the veil, add a hair accessory, or reestablish your hairstyle for the reception.
7. Changing Ceremony Hairstyle for Reception Hairstyle
If you’re not planning to wear a veil but want a different hairstyle look for your reception. Planning for this with your hairstylist is crucial as it allows you to transition seamlessly from the ceremony to the reception without any hair mishaps. Ask a friend to go with you so they can learn how to change the ceremony hairstyle to a party reception style, ensuring you look your best throughout the day.
